Aerosmith By The Shore, Estate of the Day

The band Aerosmith is much beloved in Boston and over the years the band has bought some great real estate in Massachusetts. The Wall Street Journal's Private Properties column reported Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer has put his beautiful waterview home in Marshfield Hills on the market. Marshfield Hills is located on the South Shore and Kramer has himself an expansive 17-acre spread that includes views of the Atlantic Ocean and over 300 feet of frontage on the North River. The grounds include a pool and spa, guest house, , three detached garage buildings (Kramer is a partner in a specialty car dealership), a small fish pond, and open manicured lawns with views and access to the water.

The four-bedroom main house was built in 2003, has over 6,300 square feet of living area. It includes a gym, sauna, three-season porch, and a recording studio and features intricate wood carvings on the doors and mantelpieces. It is listed at $4.99 million.

Soccer in the Hills, Estate of the Day

I love the Hilton & Hyland listings because there area always so many pictures to let you really get a comprehensive look at the place. Today's home belongs to L.A. Galaxy coach Ruud Gullit. The former soccer star has listed his home in the Hollywood Hills for $4.25 million. This one, built in 1937, has a lot of charm. It's located on a private knoll in West Hollywood and is positioned for lovely views of the city below. It has a step-down living room with a wood-burning fireplace that opens to an outdoor pool and spa area which has a covered lounging cabana at the opposite end of the pool. The home has been remodeled with a new kitchen and a beautiful master bedroom suite with a steam shower, sunken bathtub and French doors that open onto a balcony overlooking the city. There are four bedrooms and five bathrooms total in this home. I suspect this one will go quickly, it's absolutely move-in ready.

Kelsey Grammer's Fantastic Flip, Estate of the Day

We've written about Kelsey Grammer's real estate doings before (he's nearly as ambitious a real estate tycoon as Ellen DeGeneres and now the Real Estalker reveals the latest listing from Kelsey and Camille Grammer. This home in the prestigious Holmby Hills are of Los Angeles is one of his best yet. The seven-bedroom home is over 10,000 square feet is on almost an acre of desirable land. The Grammers bought the home less than a year ago for $13.7 million. They have done up the home in their mix of beige and whimsy, sticking to relatively neutral tones throughout the house but making some vibrantly colorful choices in bathroom tiles. The grounds include an expansive pool area and a large lawn.

The home's other features include a gym (with a fireplace), large bathrooms, a media room with a built-in bar and a cozy but luxe style that gets much of its charm from the heavy dark beams and plethora of French doors. I'm not much of a fan of the "English Country" style but as wacky as they are, I'm loving the bathroom remodels (although I never understand the wisdom of having anything upholstered next to the tub. The Grammers have listed this home for $19.9 million.

Cape Cod Style in Carpinteria, Estate of the Day

Today's home has East Coast style with the luxury of West Coast weather. This compound is located in a colony of beach homes on Sand Point Road in the coastal community of Carpinteria, California. The five-bedroom estate includes both a main house and a guest house. The design takes the traditional Cape Cod style and lightens and brightens it with an exterior of bleached cedar shingles and an interior of large windows and white beams. The home is practically perfect (maybe the media room is a bit off but other than that, wow). Because it is Carpinteria though you'll pay through the nose for a home like this. It's listed at $32.5 million and doesn't even seem to have a pool.

Diamond Head, Estate of the Day

The last time I checked out a home in Honolulu, Hawaii the top home was listed at $10.8 million. Since back in April, that house has been reduced to $9.25 million and there is a new home in the top spot. Today's home is located in the Diamond Head area and has incredible water views. The two-story residence has three master suites with ocean views and private balconies, maids room and a three-car garage. It also has a particularly alluring feature, an infinity edge pool that faces the ocean. This home is listed at $10.75 million.

John McCain's Former Home, Estate of the Day

Today's home in Phoenix, Arizona was once the home of John and Cindy McCain. The home, on over two acres, was Cindy McCain's childhood home, where she was raised as a privileged beer distributor's daughter. When the McCains lived there they spent $250,000 remodeling the home back in the 1980s. In 2006, the couple downsized into a condo and put the home on the market. When I first heard about it in 2006, they had a bit of trouble selling the house, listing it for around $3.75 million.

The current owner is going for a bit more. They have listed the home, which has seven bedrooms in the main house and two bedrooms in the guest house, for a hefty $12 million. The home includes a master suite with a Mexican-tiled private patio with a spa and built-in fireplace and seating. The gourmet kitchen has slate floors, granite counters and heavy commercial stainless steel appliances. The guest house also has an attached his/her dressing cabana. More pics at the virtual tour. It seems to have had quite the renovation since the McCains lived there. Check out the pics from 2005 when Architectural Digest visited the McCains. It's virtually unrecognizable except for certain telling details like the fireplace in the master bedroom. I have to say, I prefer Cindy McCain's version of this house.

Villa Eden, Estate of the Day

I first heard about this estate a year ago after the Wall Street Journal reported that media billionaire Haim Saban was putting his Acapulco, Mexico vacation home on the market. A year later and the home is still on the market for the same price. The three-acre gated compound in the Las Brisas community is the estate that Warner Communications (which became Time Warner) used to entertain clients and celebrities. In the late 1990s, Time Warner needed to cut costs and sold the home known as Villa Eden to Saban for around $7 million in 2001. The home has 12 bedrooms (plus five bedrooms in the servant quarters), 17 bathrooms, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, two pools, five massage rooms and a wine cellar. The expansive home has jetliner views of the Acapulco bay. It is listed at $12 million.

Paradise by the Bay, Estate of the Day

Last time I checked out a house in the Tiburon area for a look at the most expensive zip codes, the top house in the area was listed at $38.5 million. Since then that same house has climbed to $44 million and the top of the market has seen a few more lavish homes such as today's estate listed.

The Tiburon peninsula lends itself to beautiful properties that make the best of the views in the San Francisco Bay area. This one, called Paradise by the Bay turns its approximately 6.8 acres into a charming family compound. This luxury estate has been in the same family since 1926. The estate includes a five-bedroom main house, three outbuildings, a championship tennis court, pool, children's playground, and scenic waterfront area in a secluded cover.

The main house has water views from the dining room, kitchen, master suite and living room. The lower level media/family room opens to the lawn area. There is a patio room that has been historically enjoyed as an area to entertain and host noted musicians. Other features include an office which is situated adjacent to the main house, overlooking the gardens and distant Ring Mountain. The lower deck "cottage" is an ideal guest retreat overlooks the water and opens to a deck.

The small pool is surrounded by grass and also has a cabana and bar designed for entertaining and relaxing by the pool. This area is accessible by a private road for the catering staff. The massage sanctuary is a private massage deck that allows one to hear the lapping of the water and enjoy complete serenity while getting a massage. You can also enjoy veggies from your own organic gardens or send the kids off to play in the children's play area with sand box. In fact the property is so rambling that the pathways are marked with cute signs pointing the way to different areas. This property is listed at $22.6 million.

Templeton, Estate of the Day

Back in May word came out from various sources that socialite Cornelia Guest had put her family's estate in Old Westbury, New York on the market. The listing was available then but now we've got some interior pics of the 11 bedroom home. The two-story brick colonial manor home built in 1924 has 28 rooms in total and the grounds are home to a pool, tennis courts, barn, formal gardens, and a greenhouse.

But let's talk about the interior. Namely, the animal prints. I haven't seen quite so many animal prints used in one home since we checked out Suzanne Somers's place in Palm Springs. The interior of this home is an eclectic mix of vintage antique furnishings and art combined with newer pieces from around the world. Tying it together is a whole zoo of animal prints used in the upholstery and rugs. Templeton is listed at $20 million.

311 In Los Feliz, Estate of the Day

It's a bit eclectic and not really an estate but I just love the livability of today's home which was written up in the LA Times Hot Property section. Owned by Doug "SA" Martinez of the band 311 this home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz was built in 1927. The Spanish Colonial home is full of archways and stucco and original wood details. The four-bedroom home has two tiled balconies, one that is off of the master suite. No decorator here, this home is a riot of different colors and styles, a comfortable hodge-podge of unmatched furniture, colorful art and books everywhere stuffed into armoire-like cases. The kitchen is the only room that looks bland. The brilliant blue-tiled bathroom is a bit much but I love it for its vibrancy. The outdoor space is nice too with a saltwater pool and a custom Tennessee oak-covered patio with views of the Griffith Observatory. It is listed at $2.195 million.

Qui-Si-Sana, Estate of the Day

Today's home is a Palm Beach, Florida classic. The five-bedroom oceanfront residence was built in 1921 and designed by architect Marion Sims Wyeth for entrepreneur Earle Perry Charlton, one of the founders of the F.W. Woolworth Company. Its name Qui-Si-Sana ("Here One Heals") comes from a hotel on the island of Capri, and the home has a Mediterranean appeal, making ample use of the outdoor space with large oceanside lawns and an open courtyard plan surrounding a private garden terrace by the formal pool. The interior includes four stately fireplaces, pecky cypress paneling, Cuban tile floors, and filigreed ironwork gates. Large hedges help preserve privacy on this corner oceanfront lot in one of Palm Beach's finest neighborhoods. While most of Florida has been faltering real estate-wise, Palm Beach has continued to rise, scoring $81.5 million for Sidney Kimmel's mansion and $100 million for Donald Trump's oceanfront flip. This home is listed at $20 million.

Rosarito Beach Hotel Opens New Tower

I've seen a ton of condo-hotel projects in Cabo and even a few in Ensenada, now the next stop on the Baja Peninsula to get a facelift is the Rosarito Beach Hotel. The hotel has a long history. It started out as a 12-room hunting lodge in 1925 and played host to many celebrities including Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Orson Wells, Rita Hayworth and John Wayne. Now the hotel will become a 500 room and suite resort with an official grand opening on August 2. They are offering a Sunday through Thursday special room rate of just $79.

New to the compound is the oceanfront 17-story, 271-suite Pacifico Tower. The new tower offers an infinity pool and a rooftop restaurant. The Pacifico Tower has fully furnished suites that are offered for sale and can be placed in the hotel rental program. One bedroom condos start at $190,000, two-bedroom condos start at $362,000 and two-story, three-bedroom penthouses start at $599,000.

$65 Million In Malibu, Estate of the Day

I've seen plenty of big listings in Malibu but this one has everyone talking, William J. Chadwick, a managing director of the real estate investment banking and capital management firm Chadwick Saylor & Co., has put his Malibu home on the market for $65 million, a price that could be a record for the area. The 10,500-square-foot home also comes with 150 feet of beach front in the ultra-desirable Carbon Beach area, a 75-foot pool and spa, a wine cellar and six bedrooms. Other home features include a wall-sized aquarium, a master suite with hers and his bathrooms, a pub, a gym, a swoonworthy Art Deco home theater and a garage geared for the collector. For a home of this worth it's surprisingly tasteful. No Trump style excesses here, just a colorful and perfectly appointed beach house. Certainly for this type of money you could get more square footage elsewhere but it's a lovely home for those who want Carbon Beach cachet.
